Sigurd F. Olson, whose evocative books on the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness continue to be purchased by canoeing enthusiasts, also had a remarkable conservation career that helped launch his writing career.  He began that work as a young man in the 1920s, and by the early 1950s he had catapulted to the national stage.  This conservation career in utrn helped launch his celebrated writing career.  This presentation tells the story of Sigurd Olson, the conservation of the BWCAW, and how both intertwined with the national wilderness movement.  Presentation by historian / author Kevin Proescholdt (and one of our favorite Ikes, along with Sigurd Olson!).
