Found just over a mile from the Chapter, Tierney's Woods is a hidden gem of a park and is a Big Woods remnant- a rare habitat that needs protection. We count birds each year in this park as part of our Christmas Bird Count. Garlic mustard, a non-native, invasive plant is invading parts of the Woods- threatening native plants and the wildlife that depend on them. Buckthorn, burdock, and other invasive plants also threaten these woods. Join park volunteer, Lisa McEntire and help pull garlic mustard and other plants and protect our Big Woods. Learn to identify garlic mustard and how to manage it, and learn about other plants in the Woods. Three sessions will be held, May 21, 22, and 29.
To help protect this resource, these events are limited to 4 people- registration is required. The event will be cancelled if actively raining at 12:30 pm- volunteers that sign up will be contacted.
What to Bring: Dress for the weather, gloves, sturdy shoes, bug spray, sunblock, snacks and water.
Please contact Lisa McEntire with any questions.
