About the training:
Help prevent the introduction and spread of Aquatic Invasive Species. This training will prepare you to look for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in lakes or streams you visit. Training will focus on early detection of AIS where management or eradication options may still be available. The training will consist of a presentation on the major species of concern, what to do if you find an AIS, and identification.
Depending on weather, following the presentation, we will walk down to Bush Lake and toss a rake sampler and identify what we find. Be prepared to wade in the lake, or bring waders. If you have samples of plants or other species found in Bush or another lake, feel free to bring them to class in a closed container or zipper bag in water. Keep samples refrigerated until class. Presented by Hennepin County, Bolton & Menk, and the Bush Lake Izaak Walton League.
