This is a Three Rivers Park District Event

Bush Lake Chapter volunteers needed to staff our Chapter info table and help out with the event.  Contact Gregg if you can help out.  We will be distributing Salt Watch citizen science monitoring info to event attendees.  

Chapter Tabling Shifts:

9:30am-noon - Shift 1: setup at 9:30, staff booth

noon - 2:30pm - Shift 2: staff booth, pack up at 2pm

Celebrate the 28th annual ice harvest at Richardson Nature Center!

Experience the adventures of Minnesota's hardy ice harvesters. Cut blocks of ice out of the pond with a vintage ice saw and pull an antique plow. Weigh blocks of ice, use chipping tools to make ice cubes and discover food preservation techniques with historical interpreters.

Try kicksledding, learn about water quality and what is happening under the ice, and watch an ice rescue demonstration by Bloomington Fire and Rescue.

This is a great event for all ages to learn about the interesting ice industry of the past. Depending on ice conditions, event activities may be modified to occur on land. Reservations not required; drop-ins welcome.
